The Three Pillars of Field & Game Australia

Field & Game Australia and by extension, Geelong Field and Game, was formed on the three pillars of conservation, clay target shooting & hunting. These pillars inform our operations, activities and objectives as a branch.

Conservation

Geelong Field & Game understands the importance of conservation for all. Healthy wetlands and grounds provide ample habitat for native flora and fauna and ensures healthy breeding conditions for avian species that are both protected and huntable game.

A wholistic, science-based approach to conservation ensures strong outcomes for wetland habitats that support healthy populations of numerous species.

Clay Target Shooting

Geelong Field & Game operates a clay target shoot each month at the Little River Game Ranch in Balliang. Competitive and casual clay target shooters are most welcome to join in. Amenities at the ground include practice traps, fully catered canteen and much more!

Geelong Field & Game is a staunch advocate for safe, legal firearms ownership and works to foster a culture that puts safe informed operation of firearms at the front of members minds.

Hunting

Hunting opportunity is available to members throughout the year. Members will hunt duck, quail within their respective legislated seasons and pest species including rabbit and fox throughout the year.

New members are more than welcome to tag along to learn all about the species of game and pest animals and how to effectively hunt these species. The branch also provides education opportunities for all aspects of hunting, including outdoor skills, safe firearm handling and much more.

Wild Game Cooking

Our members through hunting will shoot & trap game within the regulated seasons. To minimize wastage, many will utilize their hunt and cook a myriad of wild game recipes seeking inspiration from international cuisine and tried tested and true cooking techniques. Geelong Field & Game advocates for and encourages members to make use of their hunt through cooking and share widely the recipes and techniques that result in delectable meals, ready to be celebrated by all
